Through a State Opioid Response (SOR) grant* from the Illinois Department of Human Services, Division of Substance Use Prevention and Recovery (DHS-SUPR), FGC provides medication for opioid use disorder and supportive services to persons with OUD who are incarcerated in Will, Grundy and Kankakee County Jails. Pre-release assessment and case management services occur while the person is still detained in the jail and injectable naltrexone (Vivitrol) is administered when determined to be medically and clinically appropriate. Upon release, individuals are connected to community-based MAT services offering all three forms of FDA-approved medication for the treatment of individuals with OUD. FGC also provides MAT for federal detainees at the MCC. *These services are supported by DHS-SUPR as part of the Illinois State Opioid Response grant from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (TI-18-015).
